All my life I've loved to write, and I'm stoked that I am finally within sight of self-publishing my very first indie m/m erotic fiction novella, Cole Got Cucked Hard. Even though it's taken me years to get back into writing creatively, it's always been very clear to me that writing is what I enjoy and (hopefully!) what I'm good at.
It was more of a surprise to me, however, to realise that I had such a yearning to have my own website. I'm digitally literate but by no means digitally talented, so it's not an obvious fit for me. But I came to realise it when thinking about the parts of my non-erotica based day-job that I enjoy most, and where I wanted my career to go. I realised that many of my biggest professional disappointments have been where I thought I was going to have the chance to take my ideas for a website and run with them, but have had that chance thwarted.
So when I decided to take the plunge to become a self published author of gay cuckolding fiction, I was almost as excited about launching jackhornwood.com as I was about publishing my book. I guess web design and self-publishing are similar, in that you get to think about every aspect of what people interact with. Self-publishing an ebook gives you complete control of the cover image, the text and all the marketing collateral. Similarly, having a website gives you control over both the content and the aesthetic. Not that the quality of my book cover, or the aesthetic of this site are anything mindblowing, but hopefully my skills will improve over time. That's what this is all about, right?
And that's why it's pretty cool you're reading this blog post right now. It means you're part of my journey. You made the time to come to this site and read a few paragraphs about what I'm doing and why. Maybe that's the only interaction you'll ever have with my work. Maybe you'll read my book too (please read my book!). And maybe, if I'm lucky and I've done a good enough job of making some half-way decent erotica, you'll be back to follow my journey some more.
